Today, the Metropolitan Museum of Art opened its new Costume Institute exhibition, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.” Snuggled in a cathedral-like structure inside the Robert Lehman Wing, the display highlights couture and ready-to-wear techniques in an intricate and exacting fashion.
Fashion’s most anticipated night is upon us once again as spectacular celebrities and stars came dressed in their best gowns and outfits for the MET Ball, which is like the Oscars of fashion. Iridescent fabrics, sequins and metallics were aplenty at this year’s MET Gala. Everyone from Claire Danes, Kim Kardashian to honorary co-chair Taylor Swift and her BFF Selena Gomez stepped out for the big night and brought their best “technologically advanced” artificial intelligence-inspired looks!
The superstars paid homage to the theme of the exhibit as they donned gowns that incorporated metallic, chrome, hardware and mixed glimmering materials that made the red carpet shine like a disco ball.
Hot momma Kim Kardashian rocked a figure-hugging gown that showed off her slimmed-down, post-baby body and the Jenner sisters made everyone turn heads especially Kylie Jenner who made her MET Gala debut in an embellished Balmain gown which featured sheer panels. Her supermodel sister, Kendall Jenner, also dared to bare a lot of skin in her Versace number – showing that skin proved to be a popular theme this time around.
Taylor Swift debuted an edgy new style and sense of fashion which worked well with her bleached-blonde hairdo and dark lip as she stepped out in a show-stopping silver ruffled cutout Louis Vuitton mini dress, paired with gladiator lace-up sandals that extended all the way to the knee.
Beyonce in Givenchy looked unquestionably stunning! Beaded nude-coloured dress with voluminous sleeves. Wow.
Selena Gomez wore her Louis Vuitton frock under a leather bustier with heeled lace-up booties for an overall look that definitely showed the future generation how to step it up a notch when it comes to fashion.
Nicole Kidman in an interstellar-inspired black and silver dress is simply awe-inspiring. The Alexander McQueen outfit is ethereal, futuristic and intergalactic-ly fashion forward!
Karlie Kloss looked radiant and almost too perfect in this Brandon Maxwell white gown. The cutouts flawlessly outline her amazing body and the look screams, sci-fi galactic model!
Gigi Hadid wore a grey Tommy Hilfiger dress with boyfriend, Zayn Malik in Versace at hand – of the robotic kind. Honestly, his outfit stole attention – because who wouldn’t stare at metal robot arms on an attractive fella like Malik.
Naomi Watts in a shining Burberry number – gloriously beautiful and simple.
Claire Danes was the glow-in-the-dark Cinderella of our dreams in Zac Posen. Celestial grandeur with an illuminating ball gown – gorgeous.
